The act and statutes of the University provides for various Statutory Authorities of the University to provide policy framework and direction for the functioning of the college to fulfil its obejectives the college has a college committee consisting of 7 experts from the college and the university representative nominated by the University.


The Functions of college committee,

As this is a Self financing college, it doesnot have the rights of prescriping the courses of study and syllabi. It cannot restructure and redesign the courses to suit the job requirements. The committee designs the methods of assessment of student’s performance, the conduct of the examinations and publication of the results. The committee also promotes healthy practices such as community service, extension activity and participative programs. The main reponsiblity of the committee to approve new programs of study.

In addition to the above the college has number of students and faculty committee to decentralize the management activities the details of the role and responsibilities of the committees are prescribed and informed the members of faculty it is the function of the college committee to approve the proposals with or without modification of the boards of studies with regard to course of study. The committee also recommends to inprove regulations for sports and extra curriculur activites.

The finance committee of the college advises the college committee to consider but budjet estimates, income and expenditure and auditor statements extra, the grievances of the faculty and students are redress through grievance redressal committee the dispiline committee in the college maintains displine ion the campus, if necessary it recommends suggestions for improvements. There also an Anti ragging committee which tries to curb such activites inside and outside the classrooms. There is Anti women’s Harassment cell which protects the interest of the girls. If any complaint receives the Principal takes strong action against the student’s involed in such activities.


Number of capability enhancement and development schemes

1. Guidance for competitive examinations:

Though the college does not conduct any competitive examinations the faculties encourage the students to prepare for the examinations. They are suggested to develop their reading habits by reading newspapers, journals and magazines. Internet facilities are provided to the students who wish to participate in the competitive examinations.


2. Career Counseling:

A. Academic Counseling:

This college follows tutorial system for the students to improve their academic record. Every 30 students are assigned to one tutor for academic counseling for their maintain a record of the students. At the beginning of every year orientation programs are conducted in which the Principal gives counseling to all the students. The students are offered counseling for maintenance of discipline, regularity and Time Management. The slow learners are given extra coaching and advanced learners are offered encouragement from the Management and the Faculty members.

B. Career Counseling:

Right from the first day of the admission, the faculty members are giving career counseling to all the students. Apart from this, there are placement officers who are counseling the students for their future. They organize on campus placement interviews to select the best students. It is their responsibility to invite various companies and industries to the college to improve the quality of the career of the students.

C. Psycho Counseling:

The Students may not disclose their problems to their tutors or the Principal. So a psychologist has been deputed to visit the college regularly to counsel the students and suggest solutions to their problems. A psychologist from Karpagam Medical College is visiting the college frequently and the students and the faculty members discuss their problems with the Doctor. Apart from this, seminars are organized in the college to keep their mind fit and energetic.


3. Soft skill Development:

Communicative English, Computer Literacy classes and Personality Development programs are provided to the students to train them to attend on campus selection programs. The trainers are from external agencies like HCL, TCS, Global Edutech, and Wipro. Institutions also offer extra courses like mobile service, Hardware training, Type writing and Multimedia classes for all the students.


4. Remedial Coaching:

After the publication of the results of the Continuous Internal Assessment Test (CIA) the slow learners are picked and they are given extra coaching in the name of remedial coaching outside the college hours. The faculty members conduct retests, give assignments and conduct extra coaching classes to improve the standard of slow learners. In the ensuing test and examination the students show remarkable improvement in their performance.


5. Bridge Courses:

After the admissions are over all the first year non major students are provided with bridge courses in their subjects for more than one week to know about their subjects. After the course a test is conducted in the end and all the students know the basics and fundamentals of the subjects.


6. Yoga and meditation:

Yoga and meditation are taught to the students of the classes in the seminar hall. The Directorof Physical Education of the college Mr.C.Ramachandran teachers yoga to the students and motivation makes the students physically and mentally alert. Some of the teachers also participate in yoga and meditation with great enthusiasm.


7. Personal Counseling:

If the students have financial, social and domestic problems they are advised to contact their tutor or HOD for solutions. The college has a Women Cell which plays an important role in taking care of the women students. The Women Cell provides counseling to all the women students who are having personal problems. The women students are free to meet the faculty members at any time to redress their grievances.

Malpractices and plagiarisms

The college uploads all the information in connection with NAAC in the institutional website. Now, the UGC has introduced a provision to detect malpractices and plagiarism in the NAAC details thereby to avoid repetition and copying.

There are code of conduct and ethics in the field of teaching and research. For teaching and research ethics and honesty are important aspects. Plagiarism will affect healthy academic atmosphere in the institute and affects the reputation of the institute.


Code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in Research

The main objective is to promote the research and research publications and prevention of misconduct including plagiarism in R&D.


Ethics and plagiarism are the significant components in research and publication. Sometimes it is to be observed that researchers claim others work as their own, which will degrade the reputation of the individual /Institution. There is every need to assess the academic/research work of the student/researcher scholar/ researcher who produce their work in the form of Project reports, Seminar papers, Research papers, Research proposals and thesis work. Especially the research work in the form of papers/projects should go through the process of plagiarism and has to maintain high academic and production standards. The research work produced would be thoroughly assessed for their viability across the globe and needs to reach the highest success. We take some extra measures to ensure that the work is at par with the National/International standards professional type setters which are engaged to bring about the best of results. The Authors are made responsible for their research work carried out,presentation and results are expressed. The institution deplores and dejects the violation of code of ethics which is dishonest and immoral infringing the copyrights act of intellectual property rights.


Plagiarism constitutes unethical scientific behavior and is never acceptable. Proper acknowledgement of the work of others used in a research work must always be given. Further, it is the obligation of each author to provide prompt retractions or corrections of errors in published works. There are varying degrees of plagiarism warranting different consequences and corrective action, listed below from most to least serious:

  • Unaccredited paraphrasing of pages or paragraphs from another paper(s).
  • Credited verbatim copying or translation of a major portion of a paper without clear delineation (e.g., quotes or indents)

Possible types of Ethical violations:

    Conflict of Interest: Any action that may result in a conflict of interest must be fully disclosed. When objectivity and effectiveness cannot be maintained, the activity should be avoided or discontinued.
  • Disputes about authorship: Proper authorship representation is generally a matter for the involved parties to resolve.
  • Duplicate Submission: Duplicate submission abuses the resources of all affected journals, including the valuable time of editors, reviewers, and staff, and is unprofessional and unacceptable.
  • Fabrication or misrepresentation of data or results: Any incidence of fabrication or misrepresentation to be an extremely serious breach of professional conduct, with potentially severe ethical and legal consequences.

The Institution checks the plagiarism of research thesis with the help of University and for the research publications it is done through online sources. The Institution forward the thesis for submission only after getting the plagiarism check certificate from the Bharathiar University which is mandatory.
