Dr. T.V. Angappan - A Pioneer in Education & a Legendary Hero.
Mahatma Gandhi remarked: "You must be the change that you wish to see in the world", True to his words, the starring founder of many educational institutions, Dr. T.V. Angappan, has contributed his thoughts and actions for the cause and growth of education.
Born in an aristocratic family, he is the grandson of the "Father of Co-operative mort" – Sri. T.A. Ramalinga Chettiar. Dr. T.V. Angappan, an embodiment of able leadership, unselfishness, generosity and strenuous work is the guiding spirit behind innumerable institutions that are associated with the cause of education. Being hailed as an institution in himself, he is the Founder Secretary of a dozen institutions. He is a living legend who has created a distinct public image that spreads it aura in and around Coimbatore.
As an educationalist he has infused a deep sense of purpose in learning and integrating theoretical learning with practical aspects. The new dimensions that he created in the field of education tower as minarets in his career. The utilitarian value of education was eminent in his social reforms that uplifted the poor and backward community.
His legacy as a pioneer in the educational arena is an inspiration for younger generations. The fruit of his investment in education is the proud alumni which boasts of its alma-mater, which leaves no stone, unturned. He nurtures the impetus to drive several new initiatives in the educational scenario. The genial charm that reverberates around him attracts many positions as Chairman of prestigious Associations. He is the deciding authority and Consultant in many legal and technical issues that he has helped solve with his razor sharp intellect.
Being at the helm of the institutions, he steers the ship as a maneuvered captain. He has donned the cap of a very simple and austere leader working throughout for the betterment of the community, the society and the nation.
His role as a Social Reformer:
A versatile personality that he is, he evinces great interest in the growth and welfare of the people and institutions associated with him. He is one of the outstanding men who have contributed to social cause without vested interests. The enthusiasm and drive that propels his activities is infectious and steers people associated with him to work with focus and determination.
Dr. T.V. Angappan's contribution to society is inexplicable. As a mark of respect to his honorable ancestors he organizes intellectual symposiums every year. Excellent commemoration lectures are organized with eminent speakers as Chief Guests. To name a few are:- the eminent personalities like Sri. T. N. Seshan, Former Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, Scientist, Sri. Venkatachalam, Former Chief Justice of India and Sri. Anbalagan, Minister of Education.
He is indeed a coin minted differently from the usual row of Politicians and Academicians. He is a mild-mannered affable person who spreads his tentacles of warm-heartedness to the people around him. His idealism co-exists with his energy packed actions and ushers in new vistas in all dimensions.
The Laurels that he adorned:
As a successful luminary of the age and as a Contributive Philanthropist he was conferred with the 'Best Co-operator' Award by Tamil Nadu Government in 2011. The crowning glory of his carrier was the appreciation; he received from Avinashilingam Deemed University. He was conferred with the Prestigious Honorary Doctorate Degree commending his contribution in the field of education and social services. He visited Japan as an Educationalist and Social Reformer.
The Association of the Managements of Private CBSE Schools of Southern Region (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andra Pradesh) was started in 1991with Dr. T.V. Angappan as Founder President. The collaborated effort of Dr. T.V. Angappan and Sri. Govind Das Purusotham Das resulted in a major breakthrough in the annals of the history of CBSE Schools. Under their guidance many Seminars, Conferences and in-service courses were organized for the betterment of the CBSE School Principals and Teachers. Awards were distributed to encourage the teachers. His valuable advice as the Chief Patron of the Association is a boon to the emerging and enthusiastic office bearers until today. As a mark of respect to the noble deeds and enormous contributions to the Association we salute the Noble Man on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Associations with reverence and gratitude.
To add to his glory is his Presidentship of the Association of Self-Financing Arts, Science and Management Colleges of Tamil Nadu that he held until recently. He continues to be the Chief Patron offering his valuable guidance to promote excellence in the field of education.
